Patriarchal Court

Built at the end of the 19th century, it was the residence of the Serbian Patriarch until 1930. Today it is the seat of the Bishop of Srem and is officially a Cultural Monument of Exceptional Importance.

Originally, "Pasha's Konak" stood on the site of the court as the seat of the head of the Serbian Church after the transfer of the archbishopric from Peć to Sremski Karlovci.

By establishing an endowment to raise funds for a new court, the then Metropolitan, Stefan Stratimirović, began the construction of a court in the style of Italian palaces. That court stands there today and is considered one of the most imposing buildings in all of Serbia.
